After working as a mechanical engineer for 8 years, I realized I didn't want to sit at a computer for the rest of my life. I always wanted to work to design prosthetics or joint replacements, but again, that's at a computer, so decided I would help the people who get them and become a PT! So much of pain and injury has to do with loads being placed on the tissues of the body, so an engineering background is perfect to solve those movement problems!
I graduated with my Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Washington University in St. Louis in 2017, working at an outpatient clinic in Mt. Vernon, IA since 2018. I started the first Bone Builders class there in 2022 after a woman came to me for a PT evaluation wanting to know how to lift weights to improve her bone density as she was just diagnosed with osteopenia. That morphed eventually into 2 classes of 8 women, many of whom have been consistently attending class for over a year now! In 2023 I went part time in Mt Vernon to allow me to expand Bone Builders to my CrossFit gym in North Liberty.
